The Fluorochem story…

1967

Fluorochem is founded by Bill Stoker and Mike Stevenson as a small catalogue of 50 items, based on Mike’s expertise in fluorine chemistry and his studies at UMIST. Fluorochem is later appointed the exclusive UK distributor for Fluka until 1986.

1986

Fluorochem becomes an independent catalogue company.

1992

The company is sold to BNFL and the catalogue is diversified. The purchase of Oakwood Chemicals gives Fluorochem a manufacturing division, and a route into North, Central, and South America.

1997

A new management team acquires Fluorochem and shares in Oakwood Chemical from BNFL.

1998

The search for quality and trusted suppliers to diversify and expand the catalogue takes the team to China, as Fluorochem grows across the UK and Europe. Relationships with those early contacts in China continue to this day.

2000

Fluorochem introduces its first silanes catalogue, and by linking with some larger suppliers, expands its range from 20,000 to 50,000 items. It continues to seek the right suppliers to meet research and customer demands, and further diversify its product offering.

2010

Sales increase significantly and Fluorochem moves to new premises, bringing sales and the warehouse under one roof. This results in streamlined processes, increased orders, and next-day delivery across the UK and Europe.

2021

Lee Jones is appointed Managing Director. The successful set-up of subsidiaries in Ireland and the Netherlands allows Fluorochem to continue trading to customers in Europe, working around complexities caused by Brexit.

2023

To better serve our pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences customers, Fluorochem enters a partnership with global CRO & CDMO ChemExpress, providing extensive synthesis, manufacturing and drug development services.

2024

Our new warehouse near Cologne, Germany ensures all of our customers benefit from an efficient service and rapid delivery that is smoother than ever before.

We can confirm we have ISO:14001 & ISO:45001 certificates.

2025

In 2025, we secured ISO 6 accreditation for our clean room. Now, we can offer fully customised pre-weighing services for diverse compounds libraries in plates or bottles of your choosing.

We also carefully crafted a new website to improve the way our customers and can search and find our products and services.
